Frequently Asked Questions

Solar screens from Solar Guard Screens are custom window screens made from PVC coated polyester and designed to filter the amount of sunlight coming in through your windows. They are custom made for your home, cover the entire window and come with a 10 year material warranty. Any window, any shape!

When installed properly over your windows solar screens act like a shield providing a barrier of defense and shade over your windows. When the sunlight hits the screens, the light is filtered down to your choosing of 60-95% block. Reducing the amount of direct sunlight coming in also reduces the amount of heat and harmful UV rays. This is how homes are able to stay up to 10 degrees cooler after installation!

One of the best benefits of solar screens is that while your neighbors can't see in during the day, you can see out just fine! Many homeowners love how "open" their homes feel now that they can leave the blinds open during the day! We also have several options for capturing as much natural light as possible too!

While we always try to exceed expectations, our goal is to have your screens installed within 10-15 business days from the day you agree to start the project. (On occasion, during our peak season lead times can be extended to 20 days, but this is not standard.)

Each window will have a custom built screen and installation on average can be completed in under two hours.

What are solar screens?

How do they work?

Can I see out of my windows?

How long does it take?

How much can I really save?

Each and every home is different. The age of your home, the building materials, how many windows your home has and how many of those windows get direct sun are a few of the many different variables. What we can say, is that on average homeowners are seeing $20-$100 a month off of their electric bills. Multiple homeowners have also told us that after installation their a/c now cycle on & off during the heat of summer when it had previously not at their normal thermostat temperature. Saving on your electric bill is one way to save some money, many of the others include: expanding the life of your a/c, expanding the seal life of your double pane windows, prolonging fading on carpets, floors, and furnishings. Solar screens can usually completely pay for themselves in a short amount of time!
